Richmond King of Kings : Xavier Drake


Xavier Drake has been performing for 11 years. He is a multi-faceted entertainer. He can perform anything from opera to scat. Xavier is best known for his tribute peformances of Michael Jackson. He calls himself a king because everyone else will. He is confident, dapper and a romantic. Mr.Drake is an extaordinary dancer and showman. You can find Xavier Drake performing at Babe’s of Carytown, every fourth Friday in Richmond, Va.

Ms. Gay Pride Virginia :Ashley Mitchell

Ashley Mitchell is Richmond’s 2nd Ms. Gay Pride Virginia winner.  She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA to pursue her degree in Social Work.  She then moved to Richmond in 2008 and became rapidly active in the LGBTQ community interning at ROSMY (a non-profit for GLBTQ youth ages 14-20), and soon after became a full time staff member.  Ashley is the Youth Programs Coordinator and Volunteer Manager and works diligently to make sure all youth who are dealing with their sexual orientation or gender identity are aware that they are successful members of the community.  She is trained in various sub-categories of the LGBTQ community and encourages everyone to make a change here in Richmond.  Ashley is proud to be a part of the change Gay Pride Virginia has instilled across the state.  Her hobbies include, but are not limited to: her family, her dog, her friends, the dog park, the beach, train rides, J-CREW, her blackberry, sushi and pad thai, educating, mentoring, and advocating for all GLBTQ folks, her lady, a good movie, and a warm bed.

Everyone should come out to support this years contestants and the GPV Scholarship Fund.

Contestants are still able to sign up to win part of the $400 cash prizes by contacting audge_allen@yahoo.com

There is no contestant entry fee and the categories include: gym wear, club wear, talent and formal wear (w/ Q&A).

Cover at the door is $5.
